This is a line from a sitcom:

We won the softball!
He made us into a team.
Yep, we sure showed those Hasidic jewelers a thing or two about softball.

What is "Hasidic jewlers" and why it is funny? Help! Rolling Eyes

It's a play on words, Phoo.

The Hasidic Jews are a very religious Jewish group. There is a high concentration of Hasidic Jews in and around New York City. Jews are also stereotypically seen as frequently working in (and being very successful in) the jewelry business. "The Hasidic Jewelers" is apparently the name of (or a joke name for) a softball team.

The play on words: Jew and jeweler

Hi Yankee, thank you very much!

Here is another question below.

"Eeveryone is mopping around and eating ice cream."

Could "mop around" mean "come together"??
And if so, is it common in use?

Thanks!

.
Not 'mopping'-- moping. Mope = be apathetic, gloomy, or dazed; move around slowly and aimlessly.
