.
'Taken' is the past participle, so requires an auxiliary verb to become the main verb here: Rose has taken....

i was thought the answer is "take" coz i thought "She should be back shortly" means it happend in this time, so, i choose "take" as the answer.

But then i realize, oh yes, "Rose ......... her son to his soccer practice. She should be back shortly"
it means what rose has done is in past time..
so thank u, now i understand why shall use "took"
