Assigning daily homework to students is a good strategy to help them improve their academic skills. In my opinion, daily homework is important for students if it is suitably given and supports their learning. On the other hand, daily homework is unnecessary for them in case it is GIVEN too OFTEN and DOES not back up their study.
There are several advantages of daily homework if it is assigned in proper amounts and at the right time. First of all, students can go over the lessons they have already learned or prepare for new content they are going to study next. This will help them have an insight INTO what they have learned. Secondly, daily homework can help teachers to know WHETHER their students have understood or have not understood the lessons. Teachers are then able to modify instructiON and find tactics to encourage students to learn more comprehensibly. A third point is that daily homework enables students to be responsible, namely they have to turn in their homework on time. This will instill a good habit toward them and when they grow up, they will be good peOPLE.
However, too much daily homework can cause negative aspects FOR students as well. Admittedly, often teachers delegate excessive homework and sometimes regardless of students’ ability. Students have no leisure time to relax and play sports, making them unhealthy and unprepared to be educated. Another point is that excessive or insignificant assignments raise the stress level of students, actually reducing productivity and performance instead of increasing them. Nevertheless, the main argument against daily homework is that too much of it can cause students TO HAVE A negative attitude towards learning. In case students have to do too many assignments, they will be tired, bored, and unhappy to learn. Eventually, they may fail to study.
In conclusion, giving everyday homework must be carefully considered. It can benefit students in certain circumstances, but both students and teachers have to realize the important purpose of daily homework. Therefore, I suggest that teachers should assign it by taking account of the balance between students’ free time and homework, students’ ability, and learning advancement, whereas students have to do and take heed of it intentionally. All of these will lead students to achieve their own academic goals.
