Hi gq5974
I'd choose: 1. (c) 2. (a) 3. (b) _________________ "Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power." ~ Abraham Lincoln |

No.
Thriving has a sense of growing. Flagging has the sense of declining.
It's the same sort of difference as between up and down. _________________ "Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power." ~ Abraham Lincoln |

well i looked up a dictionary and found out that flagging means decrease in energy so the opposite has to be vibrant which means full of energy :) |

I think too.
nuance of 'thriving' is very lively and profitable, isn't it? _________________ VERITAS LUXMEA !! |

. Another aspect to consider is the -'ing' ending. In 'thriving' and 'flagging', it suggests that the level of energy or strength is in the process of changing -- i.e. increasing or decreasing.
In contrast, vibrant and vigorous can only refer to a current state rather than a change of state. . _________________ "Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power." ~ Abraham Lincoln |

okay. It also means that the parts of speech have to match up . am i right becoz flagging ---->verb vigorous(vibrant)------>adjective thriving----->verb |
