This expression has the same idea as: It doesn't matter/Don't worry/It's all right.

You say this to someone to indicate that it's not important.

"Never mind" is a phrase that means..."forget what I said". Nothing else fits in this test.

Hi Diverhank,

It can also mean what you have suggested but when I wrote the test, I had in mind the sense of 'it's all right' because Mike is trying to pacify Linda and tell her that everything will be all right.
