Today marks the annual date when US service members -- dead and alive -- are honored.

So thanks, service members, for protecting our freedom (life, liberty, pursuit of happiness) with your actions here and abroad.

Here are the current counts for US personnel killed and wounded in US wars/conflicts (at least 500 killed in the action):

US Revolutionary War: 25324 killed, 25000 wounded

Indian Wars (1789): 6125 killed, 2156 wounded

War of 1812: 2260 killed, 4505 wounded

Texas War of Independence: 704 killed, 138 wounded

Mexican War: 13283 killed, 4152 wounded

US Civil War:
North (Union) - 363020 killed, 281104 wounded
South (Confederates) - 199110 killed, 137102 wounded

Spanish-American War: 2893 killed, 1637 wounded

Philippines War: 4273 killed, 2840 wounded

World War 1: 116708 killed, 204002 wounded

World War 2: 405399 killed, 670846 wounded

Korean War: 54246 killed, 103284 wounded

Vietnam conflict: 58219 killed, 153356 wounded

Happy Memorial Day (though I'm not an American).Very Happy There were so many who were killed and wounded!!!

About ten US soldiers have been still being searched for in Cambodia, according to Mr. Charles Ray, former US Ambassor to Cambodia. Of course they are no longer alive...but I hope they are still remembered and included too.

Thanks for your sentiment, Rosalisa.

I'm not in the military, nor was I ever, but I have to feel for those who lose loved ones to armed conflict. Those who fight with honor/dignity (especially) should be honored, or at least respected.
