Dear Sir Alan Townend, I usually read what you send me for a special reason: English is my passion. Englishness is something I miss when I am not in England. This can sound weird, but I have felt this way since I was a student at university, a long time ago. I go to England more times in the year for my job: lucky me! I spend a lot of my spare time trying to improve what I know, it is never enough. Thank you very much again. Kindest regards Marina |

Dear Alan
Offf! What an amazing essay. I admired it. It was wonderful. The way of writing, of expressing, the choice of the words, of subjects was superb. The essay is simple, rich and very persuasive with a splendid sensitivity. |

Dear Alan,
"The way they say it" is really interesting. There are many varations in my Vietnamese. I have a western accent which is quite popular in VietNam. I don't know much about English accents. I am studying how to speak English with a American accent. But I think there are many American accents too. My English (speaking, listening, writing) is medium, not good, not bad. I'll try to improve my English in next two year for a new job opportunity.
I hope I can make a great strides with your help. I think my progress is my great present for you. Many many thanks. Please non stop sending me email.
P/S:I can't open the test with the link you sent me. I don't know why. Could you please attach the test to your email? |

Thank you for your kind cooperation as from now I have my computer in order, so I can read all your references which I could not do it before. The problem I have now is that I have forgotten what name I used originally and my password as well. Is there anyone so stupid like me? Regards Hana |

Dear Alan, Thank you for your kind co-operation. I am appearing for the TOEFL exam on June 16, i.e. on Saturday. I am really worried about the speaking section. it is so difficult to prepare a speech in 15 seconds, and I do not speak very fluently. Actually, I am a very shy kind of girl. So, speaking through a microphone creates a lot of butterflies in my stomach. I try to calm myself by taking a long breath, but nothing happens. I do not know what to do. Please help me. Best regards, Sam |

Dear Alan,
Thank you very much for the newsletter "the way they say it".. It's an open question. Yes, in my country, like the others, there are very different accents, too. If we compare with the east of the Turkey and the west of the Turkey, the situation will be clear enough to see the difference. You can understand the people more or less where they come from. I can say the same things for the Bulgaria where I was born in. It's one and the same thing.
Actually I wanted to write more if I could, but it's also a big step for me to participate here because I need to improve my English, I need to practice. Your role is incontrovertible of course.
Yours sincerely, Tanya |
