contact, inform or anything else? #1 (permalink) Wed Jun 06, 2007 13:59 pm   contact, inform or anything else?

Hi All,

I use the word contact and inform many times and it seems very official to me.

Isn't there any other word to replace them?
It's hard to imagine for me that young people (or criminal people) would use contact or inform in the below sentence.

- I've to go now. I will inform you when I arrived at home.
- I will steel the car. If everything goes well I will contact you in 10 minutes.

A more informal way to rephrase your sentences could be:

- I have to go now. I'll let you know when I get home.
- I'll steal the car. If everything/all goes well, I'll get in touch with you in ten minutes.
