. Both verbs have many, many uses, and you will have to learn the idioms and collocations individually. Here, the idiomatic phrase is 'to make money', which means to earn a profit. . _________________ Native English teacher at Mister Micawber's |

Hi,
Using 'made' together with 'this year' is perfectly acceptable. The idea is that the year is now finished. In other words you could say this in December.
