I have the ticket on me

Thanks.

I have a feeling that 'with' suggests the ticket is possessed by Nina who may put it in her bag or even somewhere else while 'on' suggests it's brought along with her person such as in her coat pocket. Is this feeling all right?

.
Using 'on' sounds like slang to me.

Haihao, we share the same thoughts. I do not think "on" is wrong. I guess it depends on how you meant it to be. Come to think of it, it is slangy, like Amy said.

Many thanks!

Nina

Hi,

For me 'on' is fine having the sense of 'about my person' as in 'I haven't any money on me and so I could not pay for the ticket'. The idea of 'with' has for me the sense of carrying something as in: 'As it looked like rain, I've brought my umbrella with me.' These are very much your thoughts too I believe, Haihao

Are you saying that this would be used in a formal context in the UK, Alan?

Yes, indeed. There is no sense of slang to me in the use.

Hi Nina, yes, the feeling is mutual. Smile I appreciate you don't let any small part go no matter how small it appears. I learned a lot from your question again and feel small ones often teach us big things. Smile

Hi Alan, thank you very much again! To be very frankly speaking, your explanation pointed out everything I wanted to say but said it halfway.
