Hi All,

I call a company and want to speak to a friend of mine. He isn't in the office therefore his colleague pick up the phone.
How should I tell him that I want to send a message to my friend?

- Would you please hand over a message for him
- Would you please forward a message for him
- Would you please give him a message

How about: Could I leave a message (for him), please?

I think you should say: Would you please leave him a message? or Would you please hand over a message to him?

As Haihao mentioned, you can also say "Could I leave a message?"

If you only want him to call you back you can say:
"Would you ask him to call me back? My number is ...."

Hi Attila

Another possible option would be;

Would you be so kind as to pass this message on "..................."?

pass ...on = give to someone else

Hi Stew

Can I safely assume that the wording in British English would also be "pass this message on to Mr. X"?
