| I think you should say: Would you please leave him a message? or Would you please hand over a message to him? |

Hi All,
I call a company and want to speak to a friend of mine. He isn't in the office therefore his colleague picks up the phone. How should I tell him that I want to send a message to my friend?
- Would you please hand over a message for him NO - Would you please forward a message to him maybe - Would you please give him a message OK |
As Haihao mentioned, you can also say "Could I leave a message?"
If you only want him to call you back you can say: "Would you ask him to call me back? My number is ...." _________________ "Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power." ~ Abraham Lincoln |

Hi Attila
Another possible option would be;
Would you be so kind as to pass this message on "..................."?
pass ...on = give to someone else

Hi Stew
Can I safely assume that the wording in British English would also be "pass this message on to Mr. X"? _________________ "Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power." ~ Abraham Lincoln |
