I think that chatting sucks a$$. I myself never communicate in any chat rooms in my native language cuz I find it extremely boring and lame cuz everyone is spitting at their mouth with such gibberish and noone seems to care for the others. Although sometimes I enjoy conersating on MSN in English. a friend of mine happens to learn my native language and he speaks English so we turn our conversation into something profitable mainly discussing language issues.

Tom and LS,

I find general chats not in the least efficient means of communication as there are many people who speak nothing but obscene words and cannot keep the ball rolling. There is nothing to pick up from these chats except for negative emotions. But I strongly agree with Tom in stating that if mature and educated people are involved in, then a chat may turn out to be informative and interesting.

Does this sound OK: Reading is boring to us, because we are boring not because reading is boring Smile ?

I absolutely agree with you, Pamela. Chatting is going to be fruitful for each side if mature and educated people are involved in it. Very Happy

Nina

That's possible.

Perhaps we should publish (forthwith) a list -- to be posted in every town, city (or section of a city), school, etc. -- outlining the main benefits of reading.

...or do something with the Ad Council.

hehe

That is sage wisdom (redundant, sort of, but i like the way it sounds -- sage wisdom).

Yeah, she's fully aware that I'm a nerd, but after that debacle she's sort of tried to get back into my good graces.

Ergo, she didn't intend to piss me off. She did so unwittingly, the dumb b1tch! hehe j/k

hiya,
Lucky you ! At least you have time to read ,now what I hope is to find something beyond my fields to read. Smile
Well, people read for various purposes. I like reading, and to read different books can make me think in different ways. Even at 50 you would also feel much unknown. Sad But a fact is that few books can be classed into "pretty valuable groups" . Most are like this____ you are standing on the streets, people are talking ,yelling and crying loudly ,everywhere, but you can't catch any word...... you don't know what you can get from reading, which frustrated us so much. The problem isn't about books but ourselves. Maybe we really don't know how to read and how to think !

PS: I don't mean to make you lost in my posts, save your last interests to finish them, please. Very Happy

Fang Fang

When I read, I usually make reading my last activity of the day/evening before going to sleep.

And sometimes I'll wake up with a JUMP at the exact moment when I begin to drop the book. I'm on my back, holding the book right in front of my face, and I simply fall asleep -- for about five seconds maybe.

Who knows?

Maybe I continue holding the book for minutes and then finally drop it. However long my hands remain on autopilot (holding the book) after I drift off to sleep, when I wake up it is with a jump, as if my brain is saying to me "Wake up NOW because you're dropping the book... and if you drop the book, the world will end!"

And, lo and behold, I usually do snatch the book before it completely falls out of my hands.

The brain is an amazing thing.
