Why did you use simple tense in " It was in the spring" and then you use present tense in " leaves appear on trees and nature prepares herself for renewal..." ?

Could you give us the whole sentence or sentences? A tense switch is possible in a narration.

It was in the spring when leaves appear on trees and nature prepares herself for renewal...

I bet that is possible. The first clause refers to particular spring in the past (therefore the past simple), the second describes a fact (therefore in the present simple)

PS: dont forget to put the before the name of tenses
