Dear Alan,

Thank you for sharing us wonderful experience. I came to know from your story that our life is become much easier by gadget like GPS. But at the same time wondering if we depend too much on such gadgets what will happen to our mind and our thinking power.

I will be greatful if you could say the same thing in a nicer way.(help me to edit the above sentences)

Dear Alan,
I am terribly, terribly sorry I changed your name for John the other time I sent reply to your letter. This was an honest mistake for which I apologise. Your leters always cheer me up,regardles of the topic. I had a terrible experience in Dover the other year, when I helped to translate for my friend who breeds cockers. We were pulled out - just before we get on the ferry - by the police, asking if we have bought a puppy. We said we did and the policemen instructed us that instead of the puppy we got in the car its mother !!!! And believe or not, we bought the puppy from famous breeder in Nothingham. He raced to Dover to change the dogs and we were the talk of Dover because my friend ( not me) and the breeder could not differ between bitch and dog. We had a good laugh about it.

dear alan,

thanks for patiently sending me your articles and finally you have got me to reply to this fascinatingly lighthearted lesson, incorporating poetry, history, fancy technology and driving trivia.

travelling is one of my passions, and so are poetry and history. i am quite adept at reading maps, so i don't see an urgent need to use a GPS. the first thing i do when i visit a place is to read about its history and culture, so as not to offend the locals. i then secure a map to visit their historical and cultural sights and their finest restaurants. i would love to visit the organic farm you mentioned and partake of their menus.

i look forward to reading more interesting articles in the future.

Question Dear Alan
I read your last letter carefuly and I like to ask why did you use the term "floating before him" rather than "floating in front of him ". Is there anything I missed ?

Dear Alan,
thanks for that well composed post, it's the first one that i've received. I really liked your quotation from the Scottish play and you seem to have a talent for writing.

navigating the way #45 (permalink) Fri Jul 13, 2007 4:27 am   navigating the way

Dear Mr.Alen,

your newsletters have always been infotainment pieces strewn together with a zeal to reach out to the last(lost)man in the crowd. Though I have never used any devices to guide me on my path as the one mentioned in your newsletter, yes, I have but one device that never fails me on the metaphorical path ie. a woman"s instinct. Though capricious and curt sometimes, it is an infallible compass which warns me about the roadblocks or the hair pin bends;and in sunny times, nudges me to drink in to the idyllic delights on the countryside. It is a beacon which sheds light on the physical and the metaphysical.

Thankyou for your insightful newsletters which help me in reaching out to my students with better clarity and confidence.
May you regale the language lovers for many years to come both in LETTER and SPIRIT
warm regards.
aruna.
