Hi Alan,

Thanks again for letting me use your TomTom device last summer when we were going to Dresden together. You really convinced me that purchasing my own TomTom would be a good investment.

Before we went to Kraków last week, I thought it might be a good idea to download and install the TomTom East European map so Dave (or is it Richard?) would guide me through Poland. After all, my sense of direction is not the best (although I managed to work as a truck driver for two years). So on I went to the TomTom website to find out about the installation process. I assumed it to be a piece of cake -- within 5 minutes my TomTom would be equipped with a new map navigating me through Poland. I should have considered the power of Murphy's Law because after I had installed the TomTom Home software program on my computer, it wouldn't recognize my TomTom device. I tried everything: First I posted a message on the TomTom USA Internet Forum and got some responses within a few minutes.

Somebody suggested deleting certain files from my device after making a backup copy of the entire content. I followed the instructions of that fellow TomTom user but to no avail. Since it all happened on a Saturday when they TomTom support team was not available and even Slava didn't know what to do, I decided to give up and drove off to Poland without my TomTom. Well, Natasha did an excellent job using a paper based map and steering me through Kraków and its surroundings and after we got home safe and sound I called the TomTom support folks to find out what might be wrong with my TomTom. It took me less than a minute to explain the problem and in no time I received an email with an attached file which I simply copied to the memory card of my device.

Now my TomTom communicates very well with my computer and I'm confident that on our next trip east-bound trip we will have GPS guidance.

Dear Alan,

I thank you for your nice letter, I heard before about the GPS, but I didn't see it . I would like to try the GPS. I like also to take a long journey and use GPS to guide me.
Kind regards,
Mona,
