TOEFL essay sample: Some people like to watch the news on television Sat Jul 14, 2007 14:13 pm  TOEFL essay sample: Some people like to watch the news on television

Some people like to watch the news on television. Other people prefer to read the news in a newspaper. Still others use their computers to get the news. How do you prefer to be informed about the news and why? Use specific reasons and examples to support your choice.

Frankly speaking, I prefer to use my computer to get the news. There're several reasons why I think so.

Firstly, it is more convenient for me to get news by computers than television or newspaper. The Internet makes it possible to get the latest news right away. I can get all the news I want, whenever I like. I am always amazed when seeing the latest news. If by television, we will have to wait until the beginning of the news programs, even though we are very tired at the moment. If by newspaper, we will have to go outside for buying a piece of newspaper. Moreover, sometimes the news that television and newspaper provided is not something I want.

Secondly, it is my habit to use my computer to get the news. After I completed my assignment, I like to read news on line in order to make me relaxed.

Hi,

Frankly speaking, I prefer to use my computer to get the news. There ARE several reasons why I think so.

Firstly, it is more convenient for me to get news by MEANS OF computers RATHER than THROUGH television or newspaperS. The Internet makes it possible to get the latest news right away. I can get all the news I want, whenever I like. I am always amazed AT seeing the latest news. If THROUGH television, we have to wait until the beginning of the news programs, even though we are very tired at the moment. If THROUGH newspaperS, we have to go outside TO BUY a newspaper. Moreover, sometimes the news that television and newspaper provideS is not something I want.

Secondly, it is my habit to use my computer to get the news. After I HAVE completed my assignment, I like to read news on line in order to make me FEEL relaxed.
