Hi MC
It's a bit difficult to figure out what is "enough" for the Ivy League schools. My niece had great SAT scores (upper 700s), was valedictorian of her high school class, was involved in extra-curricular activities, had outstanding references, etc., but she was not accepted by any of the three Ivy League schools she applied to.
She was accepted to a good "non-Ivy" university. Her SAT scores and academic record also got her a full scholarship there.
Don't put all of your eggs into the Ivy League basket. You should apply to at least one school that you think is a "sure bet" for admission. . |

Hey Yankee, Thanks for for the advice. I'm only applying to the Ivies because there is no way I could afford school in America without financial assistance and they're the only schools with enough money and are 'need blind'. Do you know of any good public schools in America that offers scholarships or financial aid? |

Hi there,
I know someone who got a 2200 and got into Harvard. But then again, there are people with 2400s that get rejected and those with 2000s that get in. It's very unpredictable. If you're looking for prep to get ahead of other students check out INeedAPencil.com. Your scores are up to par but having an extra couple hundred points is always a plus since you'll be on the lower end of that median in all likelihood at the ivies. |

| Oh and for financial aid, Harvard has an excellent initiative where, if your family earns less than 60K annually you go for free and if they earn between 60-80K USD then it is significantly reduced. Also, once you get an offer you can that another college matches it to get the best deals. Check out the blog on INeedAPencil.com for a lot of cool scholarship info. |

| Ivy leagues are unpredictable. my friend had 4.7 GPA in high school, valedictorian of his class and got 2130 SAT(not great but okay) and VERY VERY amazing extra curricular activities. he was rejected from stanford early decision. then he was rejected from MIT, stanford, yale, princeton again. but just when he was about to go to uc berkeley, his got letters from harvard with FULL scholarship... how predictable is that. all schools at the same level rejected him except one that gave him full scholarship? i'd say you should apply to great non-ivies. like cal, swarthmore, ucla, chicago university etc. |
