Do you think it's a sovereign country? Many countries are independent, but when push comes to shove, they're so small that if a larger country wants to take them or force its will on them, they can.

1)I think it's very bad. Some people say that it's because your president:M. Sahakashvily speaks English better than Russian and that's why the relations of Georgia with the USA are more friendly than with Russia. And I think it'll change soon when you have a president who speaks Russian better than English. Wink
2) I think all the republics of the former Soviet Union aren't Independent in some way. If they are not on friendly terms with Russia it doesn't mean they are independent and they can do what they want.

If you mean Georgia, you know nothing about this Country...
There were many larger Countries who wanted to Conrol us,or wanted to be part of them and such periods were in the history of my Country, but We still exist..
These Countries still trying to force ,including Russia, but it's impossible Exclamation

1.I can't understand one thing, why should someone ask Georgian to be fluent in Russian ?
Official language in Georgia is Georgian, not Russian..
Russian languages is strange and We are not a part of Soviet Union ,when in every place ,you could find Russian writings..
I think it is very good to speak Russian,English,French and so on...but nobody can ask me to study Russian and it doesn't mean that I don't like Russia..
my president(I don't support he's pollitic) really speaks Russian very well,Russian president doesn't speak Georgian at all should I wish next president of Russia could speak Georgian ?
It would be better if Putin learned Georgian so they could speak in Georgian ,when meeting... Very Happy

2.I think years spent in Soviet Union is a most shameful period in the history of Georgia...
We (Georgians) don't like when someone says what to do ,so We first decided to be on Our own,I think you know how many Georgians died to be free...
We're free and of course We can do what We want
Could you tell me just 1 example what We want and can't do ?

Here is just one example: You want to improve your economy and live in better conditions, but you can't.
I'm very sorry to hear from my Georgian friends that Tbilisi, one of the most beautiful cities in the world, is having hard times:No electricity, no gas,no running water in many districts of the city.
It's good to be proud of your country. But to be proud and suffer from very bad living conditions. Why?
Do you know how much is your President and ministers' alaries.? And do you know who pays them as your budget is almost empty?
I'm without politics but I read newspapers, watch TV and listen to the radio.(not Russian of course).
I'd like to see Georgia and Armenia really prosperous countries. Cheers!

LOLL
You can't find 1 block in Tbilisi ,where is no electricity.. There were problems 5-10 years ago ,but not now ...
There is no problem with gas either.. I don't know who said that ,but about 1 year ago We had problems 2-3 days, cause Russians decided not to support us with gas,but We are not dependent on Russian gas any more ,so We have no gas problems...
where did you get water problems ? Very Happy This is really funny ,Georgia is famous with it's water,We have never had problems with water Very Happy Water tax is almost nothing in Georgia and it's much much better than in Russia ...
The budget of Georgia has increased about 20 times than 3 years ago...
I think you read and watch mostly Russian Tv and newspapers,so I understand why you think so....

You say Your Georgian friends told you that..
Could you tell your Georgian friends to show me just 1 street in Tbilisi, where is no electricity Very Happy
They will never do it ,cause it's a lie...

I'd like to see Georgia and any other Countries to be prosperous, but don't you trust Russian press, cause what they say about Georgia,is mostly lie...

I'm Georgian and I'm saying Our life is much much better than when We were part of Empire called Soviet Union...

No comment! I'm without politics.I'm teaching English and it's my business.
I'd be very happy if 50% of what you said is true. My contratulations. What I like in Georgian people is that you are so proud and you'll never tell the truth to foreigners. Proud Nation you are! Wink
