I knew this verb in French only;
partir
je pars
tu pars
Nous partirons
I don't knew that this verb also exists in English?

.
I guess so. I cannot vouch for the French, but 'part company' in English means to separate (e.g after meeting someone).

Hi Karl,

In addition to what Charles has just said I'd like to point out that your sentence should read I didn't know that this idiom also exists in English.

Thanks, MM

Could you please tell me if this "the" stands for (French) people or the (French)language?

I meant the language. But I certainly cannot vouch for the French people either.

Many thanks again. One more question.

So, am I to understand that every language takes "the" before it?

1- I don't like the French. (language).
2- Can you speak the Dutch?

Hi Tom

No, you should not use 'the' unless you actually add the word 'language' to your sentences. MM's sentence referred back to the French words (language) that Karl had posted.
