Expression: the only time in my life I got so I dreamed about things #1 (permalink) Thu Aug 02, 2007 8:36 am   Expression: the only time in my life I got so I dreamed about things

Hi,

Could you please help me with the sentences below?

Quote:
That was the only time in my life I got so I dreamed about things.

1. Does it mean: That was the only time in my life I got when I so dreamed about things?

Quote:
When they evacuated they had all their baggage animals they couldn't take off with them so they just broke their forelegs and dumped them into the shallow water.

2. Does this mean: they couldn't take off all their baggage animals with them? If so, is it the original usage usual?

Thank you!

1-- I got so = I came into (such a) condition/situation. That was the only time in my life when I was able to dream...

2-- they had all their baggage animals they couldn't take off with them = There were all the animals that they couldn't take...
.
