Reading and speaking are separate language modalities, but knowledge of each of them feeds into the other.
Students who learn only to speak have problems, because they have no efficient source of vocabulary expansion, and they never develop a full adult vocabulary.
Students who learn only to read and write have problems because they don't understand people who speak to them and they often don't speak understandably. Chinese and Vietnamese students have a famous reputation in the ESL world for being able to pass any reading or grammar test with a high score but having speech that is hard to understand. My students from other countries frequently ask me about a Chinese or Vietnamese classmate, "How can that lady get such perfect test scores and not be able to talk?" Clearly, students in China and Vietnam could benefit from more speaking practice, and especially pronunciation practice. |

Yep! I realize if we had having the elementary grammer skills, then we need to speak more! And the speaking is really good in increase the whole system of English learning!
So I think that lovely lady just needs some more times to adapt to the new environment and needs some more courages to talk and listen with others, and she will be excellent within her talent on testing! XD Wish her. _________________ Life is milk and cookies. |
