Hi Nasser,

You can improve your English dramatically if you start using spell checker and learn basic capitalization and punctuation rules.

..If you prefer to learn the language in this way..then I afraid this will not be a proper and complete learning...this may be quoted as ' learn to live' other than 'live to learn'

I'm sorry, but I don't consider that learning. It's barely getting by (JMHO). I'm glad that my browser has a spell-checker and tells me when I write something wrong. This way I learn a lot more, and a lot faster, too.
It's only difficult because I'm in Ireland, and my browser is an American, but these are difficulties that one can easily overcome.

It sound strong but it is the trouth I will try my best to work with torsten advice and all of yours advice also.

Shyone spell-chkecker is a very good idea but I don't have it in my browser I will try my best to download it from the internet.

Smile Hi folks,

I think learning and teaching English have become a hobby by now. I have been really enjoying it since I started doing translations. But I am not quite sure that doing translations is the fastest way to learn the language. Please advise!

Hi, Torsten and everyone

Originally, I learn English because I got some trobules about English. When I studied graduate school, our professors asked us to read some English papers for research survey. I couldn't do it very well myself. I got many confusions in geting the meanings of the papers. After working, I still got this question to some technical papers which is written in English. I I feel unconfident in it actually. So I start to learn English.

However, after a period for learning Engish, I find that it's interesting to learn English. I can exchange many different views to others all of the world even for the same thing, matter or people. See now I am talking to you guys. It really has fun for me at least.

Please enjoy learning Engish and using English.

Have a nice day.

Maggie^^

Wow, some good posts here today. I just love reading your posts, even with a few errors.

I do encourage you learning to the best of your ability, and believe me, your ability will improve the more you learn.

Just to hear you trying is sufficient to encourage me to encourage you.

Your errors make me smile, but I do take note of your gradual improvement, and I secretly wonder if you are aware as to just how far you have advanced.

Keep at it people, even if it for only 30 minutes a day, and you will work wonders on your English.

I am proud of you all, and of this site, which helps so many people who are trying to improve themselves.

Hi Jecept..

Lovely words you said...but according to a survey..below is the order..

1. Mandarin (Chinese)
2. Hindi
3. Spanish
4. English

So you can enjoy learning English to increase the number of second-language speakers..

Why are you learning English? #135 (permalink) Mon Apr 06, 2009 10:48 am   Why are you learning English?

I learn English for two reasons:
1. I LOVE it.
I like learning languages. I don't know why. Maybe because I have - as some of my friends and teachers say - "an inborn grammatical correctness". Or maybe I have this "correctness" because I like learning languages. It doesn't really matter. It is true, however, that in school I hardly made any effort to study my native (russian) language but my grades were always high in spite of this.

In one short period of my life I was studying German and Latin and I was enjoying these too, but lessons wasn't good so in the end I've acquired little skill in these languages, unfortunately.

All that I know and can in English I practically aquired by myself. English in Russia is very bad in common. And the most teachers are not good too, especially in schools. Maybe that's why I really love this language - because I'm a self-learner. I see a great potential to describe, express, beautifully speak with english language.
Unfortunately, my english is bad, I think, especially speaking language. So I seek to improve it and maybe edge it to perfection some time.

2. I want to get a second higher education in english language and find a very-good-paid job. And since I'm getting my first higher education now, I use this great oppurtunity to improve my skills on these wonderful forums. Many thanks to you, founders of this site!
