Hi Princess,

Thanks a lot for your reply.......actually I am kind of confused and can't really understand how should I pace myself. It's very difficult learning an entire word list a day, but I try hard to do so. This leaves me with hardly any time for essays. I really need to emphasize on my writing skill now as only 9 weeks are left.

Please help me out on how to improve my writing and how many hours should I spend everyday for studying for GRE, at a minimum!!!!!

Good luck & thank you all......... Smile

Hi lost_soal,

I can't agree with you any more, when I was preparing for my AW, I even did not write the "can't" like this. Wink

Hi,neelshiv

To keep a standard way on your GRE writing test is a very step, including the capital letters like "I". Furthermore, you would better to modify your grammars and spelling since the time is limited. You would better to force yourself to write anything by standard way during the preparation. The harder you felt before the test, the easier comes to you in your test.

For the first, which parts you will feel harder during this test, the issue or the argument? I think to both of them, first you can read the instruction of ETS about the two sections. And it also comprised the tasks and scored process of them in this document.

Actually, the analytical writing is not according to the verbel preparation. You may learn lots of GRE words from the list, but you don't need use tham in your AW test. And also you don't need make any fancy sentence in your essays. What you need to do is all about to "organize" and "develop" your critical minds.

Well, I am sorry that I can't "teach" you that how many hours you have to spend on preparing the GRE. Since no one can understand your condition as clear as yourself. You may write the first issue&argument in limited time without any hopes. And you can learn what your major problems are. Do I am lacking of the examples? reasonings? insights? or I just comfuse with the essay structures. If you can't write out a good structure at the beginning, you may practice to outline a sammary when you checking the topic pool. Then you will find out that many of topics are similar. You know how to solve one that you know hot to solve a group! That can lift up your confidence tremendously.

Hi everyone, just want to let you know that I won't be able to respond to posts this week as I am in the middle of moving. I should be back on track next week; I hope that this won't inconvenience you too much. I'll respond to those who have written to me then. Thx for your patience and good luck studying in the meantime!

hi rose.deluth

I also memorise words. there are hundreds of ways of memorising words like flashcards & all. but the bottom line is to concentrate and apply your will-power.......as far as I feel.

You can refer to the various posts in this forum & the articles available online on how to learn words.

Good luck Smile

Repeat. If you are not an native, you have not chance to fact them anytime in anywhere, I suggest you to repeat them over and over again. And you don't need to remember a large number of them each time, but you "look" at them, you stimulate your memory to be acquainted to them. I think it will be more effective than just figure tham on the paper:)

But if you have enough time I think to use tham is the best way. The language is set to be used.

yeah.. i have got a ebook which contains the wordlist, and then their answers, then the sentence completion where that words are to be filled, crosswords for that words given their synonyms and like that game so that it makes it easy to learn the difficult words like we play on it.

also see here there are some word synonyms in a organized manner which are easy to remember and yeah.. it covers all the words that are to be faced in test...

You will find the glimpses also here...

To Manish: Thank you for your information. Because I want to save my budget as much as possible javascript:emoticon('Confused')
Confused, I will consider it. It seem quite good but not exactly as my expectation. Thanks again.

To rose.deluth: I found some free sources for GRE word list in the web page that Dynamite mentioned (you can find it in the topic "The latest monthwise-GRE word: words may repeat in same month". There are also some other web pages that are introduced in Topics "The best word list for GRE" in this forum. Good luck.

Hey everybody !!

Well, i am preparing for the GRE exam which is just 40 days(3rd oct) away. It's my 3rd attempt but let me tell you i am really focused this time around. I got 750(420(math)+330(verbal)) and in second attempt 880(610+270); not a serious effort i know. Well i wanna 1200 this time around at any cost. I have done my graduation in civil engg. june-07. GPA=3.67. Planning for the MS in civil engg. at University of Akron in spring 08.

I hope i have provided enough infomation, as you can tell i need some help cause wanna crack GRE like anything.
Well intially i thought i can atleast crack math section with 750 but my overconfidence let me down. To be honest, i didn't prepare really hard for the first attempt. For second attempt i told my self that let me just focus more on my strength which is math. So with not the greatest effort i got avg. math and horrible verbal as you can tell.
Now after reading all the posts from all the respected members i have learned some lessons.(llke both section are equally important)

Especially dakini, awesome score dude !! i wish i could score 700 in verbal. It's funny rite ??
anyways no matter what happens, i am gonna score minimum 1200 this time around with serious diligent effort.
Practising Math every alternative days getting 21/28. For verbal section i am lucidly going through word list for the last 3 weeks and with that as suggested by master(dikini) practising as well.
Dear master, if you can please help me for the verbal section, i really suck let me tell you. Now it's like you are my mentor.

Hi Princess,

What exactly do you mean by "vocabularies"? A "vocabulary" is a stock of words, it's the total number of words a person knows or uses. Or it can be all the words and terms that related to a specific field such as "travel vocabulary". So I guess what you mean is "words" or "terms"?

Hi torsten,

Yes, I mean the words(Sorry for the expression Razz)

Those words I collected from all the actuall exams from GRE verbal section and I supposed I need to recorgnize them before lately OCT. Smile Do you have several good ideas for solving this problem? But now it doesnt too tough to me as that time. I feel much more comfortable now =)

And do you think to improve the speaking skills is to speak more as much as possible with others?
