suspect construction? Tue Aug 07, 2007 9:56 am  suspect construction?

"Why do you keep pending your work" is a suspect construction.

I know "suspect" means "doubt". So it becomes "doubt construction", but still I cannot understand it.

Could you explain it to me?

suspect construction? Tue Aug 07, 2007 10:16 am  suspect construction?

Hi,

The noun 'suspect' in your example has taken on the role of adjective and suggests more 'dubious'. In other words 'the construction' in its present form makes you suspicious that there is something wrong or incorrect in its use.
