Is there anything who comes from overseas should be made aware of? Sun Aug 12, 2007 18:59 pm  Is there anything who comes from overseas should be made aware of?

Hi,guys

Every country has its own customs and accepted norms of behaviour. Some business colleagues from overseas are coming to visit your company. Is there anything they should be made aware of in terms of behaviour? For example,in Britain people shake hands when they meet for the first time,in Japan they bow as a sign of respect.

Make notes below

1.greetings
2.drinking
3.punctuality
4.gestures/body language
5.coughing/sneezing etc
6.using the left hand
7.eating

My questions is below

1.Is this topic talking about the seven items they list or you could refer to them and you could find out your country's other customs if you want. I am thinking about the sixth one, 'using the left hand'. As I know,we don't have any special customs for this. So I guess maybe it's a open topic that we could write any customs we know. Please tell me how you think.

2.You also could do this topic if you want. I think it would be fun to tell how people need to notice when we visit other coutries.

Thanks so much.

.
If that is an essay test, I suspect that the teacher would like you to deal specifically with the items listed-- and then expand if you wish and can in the time and space permitted.
