No the travel itself but changes of your life underway. Changes were you need to watch and learn because everything is very new. I travel and travel sometimes just to reach my ship I need to fly 4 or 5 different planes. and at the end chopper or crewboat , same situation back home. Add to this traveling on board a ship etc , etc... All what I feel after is tiredness.

Hi Alan,
I think it all depends on your reasons for travelling. For example, if you book an all-inclusive package in a resort hotel because you just want to spend two weeks doing nothing but eating, drinking and sunbathing, then are not very likely to learn anything. If, on the other hand, you travel to another country because you want to observe how the people there live and think, then of course you will succeed. So, yes travelling can broaden your mind if you really want it to. _________________ Test Of English for International Communication TOEIC Preparation & TOEIC Vocabulary |

I would state that, depending on where one travels, travel also broadens the gut.

I haven't been to India, but I've heard many a tale about the so called 'runs'. So, I hear that the road to hell can be paved with very palatable curry dishes. If you are not used to a certain food, it may lay on a potentially explosive atmosphere, and eventually take the better of you. I have absolutely no intentions to elaborate on the topic, just let your associations flow thinking of 'gut', 'broaden', 'run'. Not very nice, is it?! _________________ Test of English as a Foreign Language TOEFL Preparation & TOEFL Vocabulary Learn more: How to Become an English Teacher |

My American part of family get always sick in Poland because of Polish food, people born Polish with USA passport are somehow immune to bigos or barsch even if their stomach had been washed and drained by Mac Donald since twenty, thirty or more years. I am sick in Africa( white ,black or Arab never mind ) in Russia ,in India (when Indian cook is on board) , usually after week I found "safe" food and everything is fine Global village is also recognized in eating habits almost everywhere you have many many same dishes ??? !!!
Good Appetite
