Use of 'went off' (I already went off when she came in my house)

I already went off when she came in my house. So she didn't get to see me yesterday.

Do you think this sentence is correct at least as to grammar? Particularly, the use of "went off" in this sentence.

Grammatically correct, and as I know, go off means the light is off.
