this might be overkill, but look at http://www.usingenglish.com/reference/idioms/
wiki has a couple in a list that is a bit easier to digest, but still under construction
http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Category:English_idioms

Very few of those will help you with the answers for "what do they mean?" in the listening section.
Make sure you understand how the idiom in question is used before you put it in your essay.
