Hi

Just a little preposterous thought:

What is the depth of the river of your jealousy? How often are you afloat on it? What factors (money, knowledge, etc) are the most effective in helping you keep afloat?

Hi Tom

About the only thing that has made me jealous on occasion was something related to love. I'm not the sort of person who feels jealous of other people's money, knowledge, success, etc.

What about you?

I do admit that from time to time I experience something similar to jealousy when I see people who have a greater level of self-discipline than me.

I hardly ever get jealous, but I get a similar emotion when I see one person receive privileges that someone else really deserves. For example, I get angry when a very qualified person loses out on a job or promotion because a less qualified person with a family, ethnic or romantic connection got it instead. One of my sisters didn't get a promotion because her department head hired and promoted only beautiful young gay men. So the position went to a very handsome gay man who had no experience, and my sister had to do most of his job while he got the title and salary. Some American companies and universities also have official policies of favoring women and racial minorities over white men for hiring or promotions, even if the white man has more qualifications and experience. Also, a colleague of mine didn't get a job running a refugee program, because the city's human resources director recommended that the city council hire a friend of hers from the symphony for the position. There were two applicants who had years of experience running refugee programs, but the city council didn't even bother to interview them!

This kind of thing makes my blood boil, but I seldom have the classical feeling of jealousy.

Hi, Jamie

I think it's very imprudent of those big wigs to hire someone with no or little experience just because they like his/her other qualities wich have nothing to do with the position he/she 's about to occupy.
Even more, it's completely retarded. It surprises me how those companies havent yet gone bancrupt. Natural selection as we know it had to have had them all exterminated.
Their board of directors must be consisted of a bunch of retards.

Lost, the examples I gave mainly happen in public institutions, so they don't have to worry about competence or financial responsibility.

I'm with Torsten.

But in love or the romantic way, jealousy from the other side turns me off.

Inexplicably, if I get jealous, I am liable to kill somebody (kidding!).

Jamie you can make up to let the department head of one of your sisters hire you instead of the other. You must win the promotion I guess.

I don't know why I have to be jealous just because of money, knowledge, etc... I don't want to be sad about what I can't have. I will try my best to accumulate knowledge and earn money by my own hands.

As for love matters, I want to ignore the trouble because I know someone is just trying to drive me up the wall.
