The discussions went off successfly and we can expect some good things out of it.

Is this sentence correct? [Particularly the use of "went off" here. (I know went off = to happen in a particular way)]

I think, Tom our friend asked about 'went off' and in the sentence it suggests that the discussions took place and were completed (successfully).

Also we can use "come off" with the same meaning as "go off" in that sentence, cant we?
