Hi everyone.

Could somebody, please, explain to me the usage of the construction "had yet to see" in the following passage?

Those other reporters also thought they might miss something important if they ever turned the cam off. In all her years of reporting for W3N, Jasmine had yet to see anything spontaneous happen in front of her.

On one hand, the author is referring to the period of time from some point in the past to the present moment and from the other hand he uses the construction with the future meaning.

Hi KLPNO

The phrase 'had yet to see' means 'still hadn't seen'.
In other words, she had never seen anything spontaneous happen in front of her -- at least not yet.
