Hi Mr Alan,
first of all thank you very much for these valuable and important essays.
They are very interesting, entertaining and educative.

I enjoyed this essay very much as it was with the last ones.
I liked it very much and it was the first time I heard such information and I found that the English language history was very interesting and amazing.
Thank you

Dear Alan!
I like your essays very much. They are very enjoyable and useful! I have written to you for the first time. The reason is that my English is not at a very good level. I am afraid I make many mistakes. But it is high time to be more self confident. Do you agree with me?

Hi Violina,

Thanks a lot for your positive feedback on Alan's essay -- he will be very pleased to read your comments when he returns from his trip. Yes, I absolutely agree with, the more you practice the better you get and the higher your level of self-confidence.

dear alan townend,
thankyou very much for writing me many kinds of essay which help me understand english much better.
as i am a teacher of english in smk merdeka [vocational high school] bandung- west java - indonesia, i'm responsible for how my students do with english.
smk merdeka has a language laboratory which consists of about 20 units of computer including head set.

my question is about the best way to transfer english to my students.
is reading alot, listening much, or just writing habit to be the best?
could you send me by airmail some stories that arouse reading habit?

thankyou.

warm regard,

ririn wuriani, teacher of english

Every time I enjoy Alan`s story! Sorry that I have no opportunity to speak...Only reading is not enough...If you can, make some online sessions with speaking by Skype or other...Thanks much for your effort! It`s great!

Actually, I’ve studied the course on the History of the English Language stuffed with dates, important events, outstanding figures – but the way it’s presented in the Alan’s essay is so vivid and catching!!! I’d say it isn’t just “digestible” but delicious!!! Wink Personally, I enjoyed it to the last crumb.
Thanks, Alan!
