Hi All,

I wonder if there's a shorter (one word) expression for the following:

The database you're looking for is...

I mean something like: the searched database or the seeked database etc.

Hi Attila

'The database you're looking for' does not mean the same thing as 'the searched database'. You could say 'the database you're searching for' -- but that's actually two letters longer ('looking' has fewer letters than 'searching').

The verb 'seek' is irregular (seek/sought/sought).
You could say 'the database sought'. That could be used as a short form of either 'the database that is being sought' OR 'the database that was being sought'.

'The database sought' sounds more formal and/or impersonal than 'the database you're looking for'.

Then is it OK if I write following?

Please note (or notice?) that the database sought is on a different server.

It's OK, but I suppose I would only use it if all of the other messages that your program/system gives a user are equally impersonal and/or stuffy.
