The word email starts with a vowel (e) which means it requires the article an. So, it's a letter but an email.

The matter with "email" is ok but why did you choose exactly "letter" and not "postscript"?

A postscript (P.S.) is additional text which you can add to a letter or email you have completed. So a postscript is an additional note a message.

Because a letter is the word that we would use in English.

In German we would say brief.

Hi KJ,

'If you can't reach me at home' suggests 'If you find it impossible to get in touch with me/communicate with me when I am at home.'
