I always knew that 'If I were..' is followed by a pronoun in objective case, e.g. 'If I were him...'.
But recently I heard another version - 'If I were he...'
What is correct? Can you, please, refer me to some grammar rules in this regard?

Hi,

Conventional grammar following the rules of Latin grammar would require the nominative/subject case after the verb 'be', which isn't a transitive verb. In the same pattern you have : It is I. That said, I would point out that it is acceptable to say: If I were him and It's me.
