I heard about a story about an old couple who quarred the other day so they didn't talk to each other at all for several days. One day the husband went back from work and felt tired. He directly went upstairs to go to bed after dinner without saying a word. The wife did some washing things and sewing so she went to bed much later than her husband.
When she as upstairs she found a piece of paper on the small desk near the table and she took the paper up. It wrote:

Wake me up at 7 o'clock.
Father

The next moring when the husband got up it was already 8 o'clock and he found another piece of paper which wrote:
Get up. It is already 7 o'clock
Mother

the result, I think you have guessed, the husband was late for his work.

So do you think tit for tat is really a way to resolve problem? What can people get by tit tating? How effective it is?

Serves him right!

Anyway, for me the silent treatment or stonewalling is certainly a way to make a statement of how angry you are. But it is highly unhealthy and I read that it's the number one killer of relationships or marriages.

In my opinion, one should bend a little, if the other started it. I don't think we should mind bending a little for someone we love, let alone our life partner.
