Would you say that the following sentence is correct and natural?

War is waged by some people, but the whole humanity suffers.


It's from a Pakistani book. Could you please discuss with me what the writer here really means by "humanity"?

No-- there's a typo, I suppose. It should read 'the whole of humanity' (or 'the whole world'). 'Humanity' here means 'human beings' as an uncountable mass.
