| Canada is pretty cold, are you getting used to the weather? Any culture shock? |

Hey all, No I haven't taken the TOEFL yet, I will take it on dezember, which means that I have still one month to prepare. The universities here in Canada for my course only require 80 total point for the toefl! That is not a hard score to achieve. That's why I like Canada haha. Even though Brazil is veryyyyyy hot (I don't like an exagerated hot weather, unless I'm at beach), I prefer living here in Canada. It is indeed cold, but if you have good clothes and if there's no wind, you won't be cold. The cold in Brasil it's sort of worse than here, because in the winter, the houses there are no heated and the weather there is really humid, which make it colder. here in Alberta is dry weather, and it can be very cold, at least the sun is almost always shining I also lived in France and the cold there is terrible in the winter, cold, humid and cloudy weather is not good...
I'm getting used with life in Canada, people are nice, the country is beautiful; there's a lot of mountain and lakes. but...I can't work, this is the unique "cultural shock", because I'm an internacional student, although I have already applied for permanent resident. In Brazil, I was accustumed working, some times I get bored at home. Why can't I work if the country desperately needs people to work ? I just don't understand this burocracy. |

Hey Azeuch, welcome here.
I lived in Canada for 8monhs as well! I was in Ontario though (London) and yeah it's tough to get used to the cold but that's an awesome country otherwise! I loved the people, their way of life, the culture ... On the other hand, food wasn't terrific! French food is so great compared to there! You said you lived in France and the weather was kind of crappy! It actually depends on where you were, but according to your description, I'd say you were in the Northen part of France, like Paris or Brittany maybe! I live in Cannes (you know where there is the French film festival, South East of France) and here it's warm all year long (except in December and January and sometimes February, but the temperature rarely goes below 5°C), in summer it's very hot, it never rains (something like 10 to 15 days a year tops!), it's great! Bye for now. |

| Hi, Azeuch! At first, I am a little confused, because your top topic says that you are in Canada. Then I thought you were a Canadian, but English is the first language for most Candians, except for a city. And why you come to this web? Now, I know the reason. Hi, good luck! |
