Hi,

What would you say is the difference between "so far your results have been very good" and "so far your results are very good"?

Thanks a lot,
Torsten

Hi Torsten

So far your results have been very good.
Present Perfect prompts me that the results were good from some point in the past up to the present moment.

Ex.I graduated from the University two years ago. So far I have worked as a translator for Refugee Council.

So far your results are very good.

The results are very good now. For the present moment they are very good.

That's my vantage point 8)

^Agrees

In this case use of the present perfect implies that there has been some change or at least some doubt as to whether or not the results will continue to be good.

Hi,

My dull ears are whispering to me that:

"so far your results have been very good" suggests a possibility that the speaker has received the 'results' at different times (more than one time) up to now and every 'result' is very good so far.
"so far your results are very good" may imply that the speaker received the 'results' at one time and they are all very good so far.

But I am not so confident in my ears.
