Hello,
Stung is the right choice here because it is the past tense of sting. Because "last summer" is referred to in the sentence we know that it's in the past tense.

Hi, Linda

Let me disagree with you on this one.
I think that "stung" here is the past participle of "sting". But "got" is the past tense of "get".
