When to use "back" and "ago" #1 (permalink) Mon Sep 24, 2007 9:55 am   When to use "back" and "ago"

Hello,

Could some one explain me the difference?

1. I came here an hour ago
I came here an hour back

2. I came here ten years ago
I came here ten years back

When to use "ago" and "back"?

Thanks,
Reddy

You can always use 'ago'. 'Back' in the sense of 'ago' is rather informal, I'd say.
