It was a cat not pbt. Since i wont get an ivy league university in us i am thinking of taking up gre again. I want to know if they consider the latest score only or if they take the average of the two. Also will the latest score carry less weightage than the very first score. |

most of the universitites that i wanted to apply to have the average quant score as 780-785. so what do i do now. can i still apply with this score ?because after all that is only the avrage score right.so they can still accept scores slightly below their average scores ???? |

hi abhi_86, I certainly cannot tell u the absolute answer, but I'm writing what I know. One of my friends received full aid in a mid-level university although his verbal score was lower (by 80 points) than what the Dept required. But there're 3 things which might have been important : 1. He applied for M.S., & had perfect score in quant, so they might have considered his low verbal.
2. He had a very good score in Toefl, far more than what they asked for.
3. The projects, academic record, papers, LOR, SOP etc were in his favor.
So, consider your standing as a whole and decide. It depends on all of the above things, not only on your score. |

I know that they consider a lot of things before admitting students.but still one of the most important criteria for admissions into engineering courses is your quant score. So i wanna know if its still ok to apply for those universities inspite of a slightly lower quant score than thier avg scores.
as far as your frend getting admitted inspite of a poor verbal score....... I can understand that coz he had a perfect score in Q.and most engineering colleges concentrate on that. |

Actually, that's a pretty good score. Your verbal is fine, especially since you're applying for comp sci. Your 770 quant is still competitive. Keep in mind that if those schools' averages are 780-785, there are still plenty of people scoring lower than that.
I don't think you should worry about your score at all. An 800 math won't necessarily get you in, and I really don't think a 770 will keep you out. If your acads in quant or engineering or other comp sci courses were good, you'll be fine.
Apply with confidence, my friend!
And to the last guy...scroll up. He literally just said we can't post current questions. It's against the rules. So please don't keep asking. It's cheating. |
