Michaela,
If go on an outing, you take a trip or a journey or you organize a picnic or barbeque. You can also go out which means you simply leave the house with no specific purpose. You may go to a restaurant or discotheque or any place you like. So, the difference between going out and going for an outing is that the latter requires some planning and preparation whereas the former is just a spontaneous act.
The two frogs in our stories clearly are going for on an outing - they want to take an adventure and experience new things.

Hello Candy, Torsten explained that going on an outing was also 'take a trip or journey'. The two frogs took a trip/made a journey. _________________ Cheers m' dears! |

Hello Bler,
I'm not sure what an 'e saying' is, but 'go on an outing' is a standard phrase/saying in everyday use. _________________ Cheers m' dears! |
