Hi. Evaluate my essay please. Thanks
Are parents best teachers?
Are parents best teachers? My answer is yes, they are in the case of giving nonacademic knowledge to their children. But when we regard academic knowledge which requires special effort to learn and teach, we may say that children should attend academic institutions in order to gain this kind of knowledge. So why parents are the best teachers for giving nonacademic education?
First, it is adequate to say that parents are first teachers in ones life. They are with their children since their birth and they know their childrens personality and skills better than any other person. So parents are given the advantage of knowing what best fits with their children. They know more efficient ways on how their children receive and comprehend information from the outside world. For instance, one may not know whether a five year old child learn easier if an information is presented by visiual or written. But his / her parents know that exactly and choose the more adequate way to teach their children.
Second, parents are the best teachers because they benefit the advantage of being with their children for a longer time than any other one. They are like twenty four hour open databases. People can ask or give a call to their parents when they fell in confusion or void of information on any topic.
Furthermore, some children may only believe in and respect their parents and rely on only the information given by their parents. For example, a five year old child may not consider the knowledge given by the neighbour but his / her father or mother. Some children tend to not believe the information given by foreigners and they need to get confirmation from their parents.
In conclusion, parents are the best and first teachers for a person in terms of teaching nonacademic knowledge. But for academic knowledge people should go schools.
