Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Television, newspapers, magazines, and other media pay too much attention to the personal lives of famous people such as public figures and celebrities. Use specific reasons and details to explain your opinion. _________________________
Of course I agree! I am very surprised and astonished to see how much attention to celebrities is paid by the media. It is really an annoying thing to see.
I think people has right to see and read whatever they want. If there are people that want to follow every success of their beloved celebrity, there will be Newspaper and television channels showing that. I think this is not the problem. It is a good notice the existence of TV channels specialized in that (like E!), the problem happens when the others channels (News channel, for instance) pay this attention if they have not this superficial profile. When I turn the TV to the news channel, I want to see News. It is the same for the sport channel.
In addition, when a lot of attention is paid to the celebrities, the other situations, perhaps more important, more relevant, maybe urgent, receives less attention. It seems like these fears to “conspiracy”: The government presses the communication media to show only insubstantial news to avoid the people ask themselves about the bad decision, the politic corruption, the war, the taxes or whatever controversial topic. I don’t know what should I think when, at the same time that the congress discuss an important topic of our foreign politic, taxes reform, or very relevant economic decision, the news shows the stupid note about a movie star going to the disco and get angry with the photographs.
That is for it I turn the TV off if I am seeing the news and they begin to read the “Entertainment News”. If I would like to see that, I turn the TV to E! Entertainment _________________________
