Hi, everybody!
I'm seeking some help here! I can't understand the parts in bold in the following excerpt:
Could you lend me a hand, please.
Quote:
That's why the city is filled with a bunch of idiots still (still)
That's why the first idiot poppin some shit he gets killed (killed)
That's why we don't call it Detroit, we call it Amityville ('Ville)
You can get capped after just havin a cavity filled (filled)
Ahahahaha, that's why we're crowned the murder capital still (still)
This ain't Detroit, this is Hamburger Hill! (Hill!)

1. Get capped means get killed?
2. What sort of cavity are they talking about?
3. We're crowned the murder capital - I have very little idea what it might mean...

Thanks !

Hi Alex

Eminem is playing with words here. Capped, cavity and crowned are all words that have meanings associated with teeth. However, those are not the meanings Eminem intends.

I would agree with you that capped means killed in the lyrics. A cavity can be any kind of hole or hollow space. I'm not sure what sort of cavity the lyrics refer to, but it might possibly be a reference to sniffing cocaine (i.e. sinus cavity). If you are crowned as something, you have been recognized as the highest or ultimate form of something. If a city is crowned as the murder capital, then that city is generally recognized to have the highest number (or percentage per capita) of murders.

Thank you for your answer, Amy !

By the way, I'm pleased to know that you're familiar with Eminem's lyrics, because I never mentioned that that piece is his Smile

Hi Alex

I thought the lyrics were probably Eminem lyrics, but I verified that online before I posted my reply.

Lyrics such as those are definitely not my cup of tea. Sad
