Hi,

I just heard this phrase on Simpsons: My heart goes off to you

I could not find this phrase in my dictionary, but I found this: one's heart goes out to smb

Do those phrases bear the same meaning?

Thanks for your time !

Hi Alex

"My heart goes off to you" is not an expression I know. If the word 'off' was actually used (instead of 'out'), I really don't know what meaning might have been intended.

In order to judge whether there was any wordplay involved, I'd need to have more of the script.

Hi, Amy

Thanks for your reply. As long as the phrase was taken from a cartoon, I can't provide you with much context, but I'll try Smile Here is what they are saying:

(Bart getting inside a tent which is pitched around a refrigerator sees Homer already sitting in there)
Bart:--Homer, my heart goes off to you
Homer:--It's cool in here, boy. For the rest of this summer we can live inside the refrigerator
March:--Homer, the fridge wasn't meant to be used this way..oh then I must say it's certainly refreshing
Homer:--I got the idea when I noticed the refrigerator was cold...
March:--Would this overload the motor..
and so forth...

Here is a file (just 70 KB) which contains what I interpreted as "my heart goes off to you"
http://www.mediafire.com/?b1wxp2tlzb1

Can you confirm that I got the phrase right (or maybe it was actualy out, not off)

Thank you in advance !Smile
