Hi Trygve,
Nice to see you here. Just for curiosity, could you please tell me what your native language is?
Economics is a hard subject for me. :D I just don't have any suggestion to give, but learn hard and work hard for it. As for your exam, I believe that you will need to master English and have a wide range of knowledge of business/transaction. :D Good luck!

Hi Nicholas :)
Excuse me the late reply. My native language is Norwegian. So I am more comfotable with writhing, reading and speaking Norwegian. :p
But when I studie economics I have to learn more English. I have had English for many years in school, and I always watch movies where they speeks English, so I think my oral English is almost ok. But I'm not comfort with English writhing.
The situation is no, that I am goning to have a writhing exam i English about economics at the 26th November. And I'm not looking forward to it. :p
But enough about me. How are you? :) |

Hi Conchita :)
Nice hearing from you. I'm doing almost fine with my exam preparations :p Most of the days is now spend in the reading rom at school, or home beside my desk, study negotiation in English.
I'm not sure that the "English and Norwegian are closely related" principle is so much to help, because the course is not just about the relationship beween England and Norway, it is about negotiating all over the world. But because most of the negotiation in the world happens in English this is the language we use. So teoretical set, I can get a negotiation situation between Japan and Germany.
So in the exam we can choose between some tasks.
Here is a example of an exam taks:
You work at a consulting company called Contacts. Two days ago your company received a letter of enquiry from a Japanese company, Fujiwara Components asking for advice and assistance on their planned sales trip to Scandinavia. The management of the Japanese company is hoping to persuade Norwegian car dealers to import and market their high-quality spare parts. The company is well established in Asia but, as yet, has not tried to penetrate any western markets. Because of the relative strength of the Norwegian economy and because of Norway’s proximity to other interesting European markets, the Japanese company plans to use Norway as a test market.
However, Mr. Hiroshi Takahashi, the Export Sales Director, is concerned that his lack of insight into European business culture will be an obstacle in this venture. On the advice of a trusted Japanese business contact, he has written to you asking for advice about the Norwegian business culture. Write a letter to Mr. Takahashi providing him with relevant practical advice to help him plan a successful sales mission to Norway.
I have not writhen this. Just copy-paste from a earlier given task. :p
So topics we have to know about and have controll on is for example: high and low context communication (China high - Danmark low), deal- or relationship focused conutry (USA deal - Japan relationship), formal and informal behaivor, and many more diffrenses between country all over the world.
The choors is very intressting but when in all happens in English it is a bit over my skills. But practice, makes master. (Norwegian saying) ;)
It become mabye a little to long this message, but hope you got a little view of my challenge that is in front. :)

Nice to hear you're being conscientious and hardworking, Trygve (by the way, does your name have a special meaning in your language?).
To answer your question, one of my challenges is to pass on to my students my love of languages.
