Hi,

I might need a female teacher with my following question. But, can you please help me understand the word 'depot' in the following sentences. I think I get the meaning but I still don't know how to use it.

Quote:
Depotting Milani

I personally don’t own any Milani eyeshadows, but had some requests in the past about depotting them. Here is a great and SUPER simple way to depot those shadows.

Oh yes, I don't think depotting here means collecting (just a personal impression)

Thanks!

Never knew such a thing existed (some people must be really bored to want to do this)! It seems that depotting eye shadows or blushes is to take them out of their original pans so as to keep them all in one palette, for example -- you can organise them alphabetically or by colour! There are even depotting tutorials, can you believe it?

PS: This 'depot' is pronounced [di'pot].

And there was me thinking it was the French word 'depot' without the accent and I'd been cudgeling my brains thinking how could it be associated with that mysterious process women execute when they announce: I've just got to do my face.

Thanks Conchita.

De-pot! Well, I never.

Well, at least they should have hyphenated the word. Or do you have any other suitable suggestion?

And, I think it is quite clever of them to 'de-pot' and get organize. I won't do it to my palettes, though, I like them mobile and cute (I love Stila's palettes). But then I am not a makeup artist and I don't have to carry tonnes of eyeshadows.

I just wish that they have designed it more makeup-artist-friendly (looking at how the guy was struggling to de-pot them). If only Shiseido has let me in (I applied for Shiseido but they told me they were looking for chemists/chemical engineers and not mechanical engineers)

Pity, I would have fun designing palettes, so makeup artists can DE-POT them easily. Sigh..

Anyway, thanks Conchita! I am so glad we have you. We are more intuitive in this area, aren't we?
