It is not in the on-line dictionary. Can you supply the context sentence?

Sorry its just spelled wrong #3 (permalink) Wed May 14, 2008 7:42 am   Sorry its just spelled wrong

the actual word you are trying to spell is "gaudy" it was actually a spanish architect that made very overly ornate structures, so basically when someone says "this painting is gaudy" it means that it is overly busy and is extremely ornate

A good guess at the word but terrible etymology. Gaudy does not come from Antoni Gaudi (1852-1926), but has been a part of the English language since at least the late 16th century.

Exactly, MM.
(I wonder whether the Gaudi family's name might have been derived from the English word 'gaudy'.) Wink

The name Gaudi might have derived from the Latin word "gaudium".

His full name was Antoni Gaudí i Cornet. Nothing to do with elaborate ice-cream, I think, Torsten. Laughing
